One of the most popular tourist destinations of the Costa del Sol is the town within the area of Malaga, called Fuengirola. The beaches of Fuengirola
Along its eight kilometres of coast, we can find 7 high-quality beaches: Carvajal, Los Boliches, San Francisco, Sta. Amalia, El Ejido, Torreblanca and Las Gaviotas. All beaches are urban beaches, with clean waters, and suitable for a nice swim.

The beaches of las Gaviotas, los Boliches y Torreblanca rely on blue-flag quality, the European sign for high-quality beaches. They have all kind of services such as aid stations and red cross stations, parking spaces, showers, sunbeds and parasols, … And the famous beach bars where you can shelter from the heat and enjoy a nice cold drink and grilled sardines.
They use to be quite busy in the high season, as Fuengirola quadruplicates its population at that time. The most ideal period of time to visit Fuengirola is March and April due to the good weather Fuengirola may enjoy at that time of the year.

This is a pedestrian area with wide walkways and bicycle lanes, high palm trees along side and monuments all along the promenade, such as the monument dedicated to the peseta that is no more.

At the port, we can find yachts and sports vessels, although of lesser volume than those of Puerto Banús in Marbella. The yachting port in Fuengirola shares its installations with the Nautical Club and the fishing port where we can find an ample offer of bars and restaurants with terraces.
Another place you must visit is the Plaza de la Constitución. The most centric square of Fuengirola, a square full of charming atmosphere, with all services available and a good place to go out to eat some tapas.
We continue to the square Plaza de Castilla, in front of the beach promenade of the beach Los Boliches. We you can observe the statue of the archangel San Rafael and a marble gate of a roman chapel.
If you have the possibility, we recommend you to have a glance inside the Castle castillo de Sohail, an emblematic monument of the city. You will enjoy the stunning view over Fuengirola and the Costa del Sol. There is a river park of Sohail and a huge green area.
At the fair venue, the streets get ready on Tuesdays mornings for the big street market with all kind of products and merchandise. On Saturdays, there is a flea market that gets quite busy and where you can find numerous peculiar objects.

For a nice day with the family, you can enjoy a visit to the jungle right in the middle of Fuengirola. The Bioparc of Fuengirola is a small zoo where they nevertheless have sufficient space for animals that live in captivity enjoy some optimal living conditions. Next to the zoo you have the bullring of Fuengirola and the park Parque del Sol.
Apart from the shops in the centre of Fuengirola, you can go to the mall Miramar, a commercial centre with a huge free parking space where you can go shopping, watch some movies at the cinema and eat out.
Nightlife in Fuengirola is also very popular. The city has loads of bars and pubs and is full of good international atmosphere. Both at the area of the yachting port and the streets of the centre of Fuengirola around the Plaza de la Constitución you can find pubs and bars with a full range of different music.
