Estepona is a picturesque municipality of Andalusia situated in the Eastern Costa del Sol at 48 kilometres from Algeciras and 82 km from the city of Malaga. Estepona is known as a popular tourist destination, just next to some other municipalities also of large touristic interest, such as Benahavis or Marbella.

In order not to miss anything out in your visit, we invite you to follow this guide showing you around the most interesting places to enjoy Estepona.

Feel the sun on its beaches.

Its 22 km Mediterranean coast converts this town into the ideal destination to enjoy sunbathing, make marine excursions, and enjoy diving, fishing, sailing, and other water sports.

The small fishing and yachting port is particularly charming and has many shops, restaurants and a children’s playground. There is a weekly street market.

Amongst its beaches, we can find the most popular one the Rada beach, of fine and grey sand, situated at the bottom of the urban centre, with 3 km of beach promenade, with full services and blue flag quality certifying the high quality of the beach and sea.

Another beach we recommend thanks to its services and quality is the Cristo Beach, of fine sand, calm waters, with sunbeds, sunshades and beach bars. Nevertheless, if you wish to enjoy some less crowded beaches, you can go to the Padrón beach, a calm beach where you will find the Padrón Tower or Paredón Tower. This is one of the 7 Almenaras towers, watchtowers of Arab and Spanish origin as a defence system, constructed in the centuries XV and XVI. All 7 towers are distributed over its 22 km long coast.

Stroll around the historical centre, a corner of Andalusia full of flowers to get lost.

Undoubtedly Estepona conserves the image and charm of a typical Andalusian village. Small pedestrian streets and streets restricted to the conventional traffic, white houses full or ornaments and beautiful flower boxes that decorate the historical centre of the town, come out onto small charming squares, amongst which the Flower Square, a place to stimulate all your senses with the breeze of the sea and perfume of jasmine flowers.

One of the things you can’t miss out is the route of the wall paintings, images pained by different artists on the façades of the buildings that will not leave you indifferent.

With regard to monuments, a must-see is the Castillo de San Luis of the 16th century, the Torre del Reloj, dated from the 15th century and the church Iglesia de los Remedios of the 18th century.

If you are a lover of botanical gardens, you must not miss out the Orchidary of Estepona. Waterfalls, vegetation and thousands of species of orchids. Depending on the time of the year you go to visit the garden, there will be more or less species.

Hiking, nature and excursions.

For nature lovers and fans of green areas, Estepona offers numerous outdoors activities, due to its extraordinary climate and natural spaces.

In the park Los Pedregales you have the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views of the African coast and Gibraltar, where you can also do some horse riding, walks or bike riding. Next to the park Los Pedregales there is an archaeological deposit of Dólmenes de Corominas, of prehistorical origin.

Estepona is a place along the beach, but you can also enjoy some stunning mountains to do hiking and enjoy the nature, such as the sierra Bermeja, whose highest top, the Reales, reaches 1449 meters above sea level.

All together with the whole family, you can enjoy the zoo Selwo Aventura, a zoo where you can admire more than 2000 animals of 200 different species that live all in semi-liberty. They live as much as possible in their natural habitat and environment.

If you still have time, Estepona offers an ample gamma of leisure, cultural activities and gastronomy. Museums, flamenco, golf, carriage horse rides, pubs, clubs and much more night life that it is better not be told but to be lived.
